Partners of IBI Net Project acquainted with Belarus experience of technology parks and business incubators

During meeting of Baltic Sea Region Programme Project „Intercountry Business Incubators Network" (IBI Net) in Minsk on August 23-24, partners not only discussed topicality and goals for the next period of IBI Net, but also acquainted with Belarus experience of technology parks and business incubators.

Partner of IBI Net in Belarus is Scientific and Technological Park BNTU "Polytechnic", which is part of the State University in Minsk. Project partners were able to visit this technological park, which is based on close cooperation of scientists and students. One of the park's activities is the production and manufacturing of inventions such as high-quality medical equipment for hospitals.

Partners in Minsk saw the Youth Business incubator hosting 28 companies from different sectors. Business incubator focuses on export-oriented businesses, so most of companies are either already exporting their products or planning to do so. For example, the partners had the opportunity to meet with companie dealing with a large-scale paintings draw on the canvas, which is already exported to Norway and Sweden. Interesting is also the story of development of this business incubator-youth saw employment opportunities at the time of high unemployment among young people. Incubator doesn't receive state aid, but is partly financed by UNDP and Minsk City.

In its turn during the IBI Net meeting,a number of important topics were discussed, for example, the Riga Technical University presented the IBI Net Portal and the Technology Centre of Western Pomerania reported on progress of development of ICT Tools for monitoring the company development. Partners were also introduced to the agenda of the next study visit to Dalarna, Sweden on October 5-6, as well as the planned agenda of the project's Final conference in Riga next spring was discussed.
